Environmental Field Sampling (field energy testing systems)
In order to support a large variety of multidisciplinary research activities, the EERC has
extensive experience and capabilities for sampling and monitoring a wide variety of environmental
media and processes. Acknowledging the importance of high-quality sample and data acquisition, the
EERC's highly trained and dedicated staff have conducted field-based activities to characterize
the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils, surface water, groundwater, drinking
and industrial process waters, industrial municipal wastewaters, and natural waters that are
extracted as a by-product with oil and natural gas. The EERC has not only used standard sampling
methods and protocols as established by agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
and ASTM International, but has also developed scientifically based protocols for investigations
for which standard methods did not previously exist.
Related EERC projects include the following:
- Water Management Center
- Gas Industry Groundwater Research Program
- Groundwater, soil, and offgas sampling and monitoring for site characterization and
feasibility studies and in support of full-scale remedial actions at numerous contaminated sites
- Treatment of gasification liquor
