DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, development and technology commercialization, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. The EERC is looking for a self-motivated, experienced, and market-oriented engineer or scientist with experience managing technical projects and personnel. The position will oversee current research projects and build future programs in renewable or alternative energy and liquid fuels production. The position may involve overseeing the development and installation of pilot-or demonstration-scale biofuels (i.e., biomass to liquids), alternative fuels (i.e., coal-to-liquid) systems, or marketable chemical products from carbon feedstocks. This manager must contribute to the success of the EERC by performing the following essential functions: preparing proposals to both government and commercial funding sources, interacting with industry and government organizations, managing research and demonstration projects, writing or overseeing the writing of technical reports and papers, giving formal technical presentations, and supervising research personnel. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: Bachelor's degree in combination with scientific or engineering training that brings expertise to managing projects.
Supervisory experience in the energy field, especially renewable energy and alternative fuels.
Three years experience in the energy industry with some work in renewable or alternative energy and fuels.
Experience may include a working knowledge of new advances in biomass or coal to energy and liquid fuels.
Fischer-Tropsch liquid conversion technologies, biomass and coal gasification and other marketable chemical products from biomass and coal feedstock's.
Demonstrated experience in proposing and managing large research projects related to energy and fuels and success in obtaining government or commercial funding.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
