DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the World. The EERC offers opportunities to people with an exceptional work attitude, dedication to high professional standards, and commitment to personal development. The EERC is seeking an organic or inorganic chemist with a strong interest and experience in one or more of the following areas of research: fuels conversion, energy conversion, carbon capture, hydrogen production, environmental remediation, process gas purification, and desulfurization. This position offers an opportunity to play an important role in the development of technologies that will help to decrease the nation’s dependence on foreign energy sources and to provide economical and environmentally friendly energy to the U.S. and international market. The EERC culture both encourages and enables individuals to pursue their own research interests while diversifying the broad existing research portfolio already present within the Center. Although the successful applicant will initially play important supportive and contributory roles to existing projects, it is expected that this individual will eagerly pursue his or her own interests in research and development of new technologies relevant to the EERC mission, with strong support of a proven research team. Specific assignments will include chemical process design, bench-scale testing of new cutting-edge technologies developed by the EERC staff and/or EERC clients, and evaluation of existing chemical transformations on a variety of industrial processes. An enticing benefit of pursuing of research at the EERC is that inventors of commercially successful technologies at the EERC are entitled to a significant share of the revenues generated by that intellectual property. Essential functions: development of chemical transformation pathways in bench- and pilot-scale systems, direction of technology tests, preparation of proposals to government and commercial funding sources, interaction with industry and 9overnment clients, technical report writing, and formal presentation of technical work. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in chemistry with 10 + years experience in fuels chemistry, process gas purification or environmental process chemistry. Applicant must possess technical writing and presenting experience. Excellent interpersonal skills needed. Applicants must be eager to pursue funding for their research interests. Successful proposal writing experience needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Industrial experience. Applicants with publications in related field.
