SALARY: $70,000 - $110,000

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, development, demonstration, and technology commercialization, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. The EERC is looking for individuals with degrees in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, or equivalent scientific disciplines, with a strong interest and experience in one or more of the following areas of research: hydrogen production. renewable energy production, fossil fuel energy production, or emission control technology development. These positions offer successful applicants an opportunity to play an important role in the development of technologies that will help to decrease the nation’s dependence on foreign energy sources and to provide economical and environmentally friendly energy to the U.S. and international markets. The EERC culture both encourages and enables individuals to pursue their own research interests while diversifying the broad existing research portfolio already present within the Center. Specific assignments will include process and equipment design; bench-scale and pilot-scale testing of new, cutting-edge technologies developed by EERC staff and/or EERC clients; and analysis of design and test data using a wide range of sophisticated design and analysis tools. An enticing benefit of pursuing of research at the EERC is that inventors of commercially successful technologies at the EERC are entitled to a share of the revenues generated by that intellectual property. Essential functions: engineering design of bench- and pilot-scale energy systems, direction of technology tests, preparation of proposals to both government and commercial funding sources, interaction with industry and government clients, technical report writing, and formal presentation of technical work. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent 7 years experience in process and related component design and analysis Technical writing and presenting experience Excellent interpersonal skill Motivated by professional research interests and creative in approach to solving engineering challenges Eagerness to pursue funding for research interests with strong support from EERC teams Some travel required REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Publications in related fields Experience writing proposals
