POSITION: Research Engineer - #10-065

SALARY: $50,000 - $60,000

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
COMPENSATION: $ 50,000 plus/year UND determines employment eligibility through the E-Verify system. Upon successful completion of the initial probation period, an employee may be eligible for a salary adjustment. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, development, demonstration, and technology commercialization that conducts projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. The EERC is looking for motivated, creative individuals with degrees in chemical engineering and/or environmental engineering who have a strong interest in addressing the issue of global climate change through carbon capture and storage (CCS). These positions offer the successful applicants an opportunity to play a critical role in developing and facilitating the implementation of cost-effective methods for capturing, compressing, transporting, and storing CO2. Because carbon capture processes, compression technologies, and injection activities either utilize or produce water, water minimization and treatment will also play key roles in the deployment of this suite of technologies on a wide scale, Duties of these positions include developing novel capture technology ideas, including designing equipment and conducting laboratory experiments: assisting with the development of programs to minimize and/or treat water used or produced during CCS activities; producing high-quality reports and formally presenting the results; preparing proposals to both private sector and government sources; and planning and conducting workshops and/or short courses. Some travel will be required.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in chemical engineering or environmental engineering. Experience with carbon capture technology development or industrial water minimization/treatment techniques. Technical writing skills. Ability to pursue funding for research interests with strong support from EERC teams. Experience writing proposals. Excellent interpersonal skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in chemical engineering or environmental engineering. Prior experience in a laboratory setting.
